Quality Counts QRS Orientation

Providers interested in finding out more about the Illinois Quality Counts Quality Rating System (QRS) can attend a free QRS Orientation offered by their local Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R). Attendance at a QRS Orientation is required for any provider who applies to QRS (submits an application). Please review the description below.

Length: 2 hours

Description: Quality matters in child care. Learn about the statewide Quality Counts Quality Rating System (QRS) that recognizes family child care and center based providers for quality with QRS certification. The Orientation covers eligibility requirements, the application process, and support and resources available. Providers serving children on the State Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) can also receive a bonus to the standard payment rate.  A provider must attend this session prior to applying to Quality Count QRS.

There are required trainings that licensed providers must take prior to applying to Quality Counts QRS. Attending these trainings will introduce providers to assessment tools that can be used for program self-assessment and to make program improvements.

Environment Rating Scale (ERS)

The Introduction to the Environment Rating Scales training is offered by the local Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R). Attendance at an Introduction to the Environment Rating Scales training is required for any Licensed Family/Group Home Child Care Provider or Licensed Child Care Center that applies to the Quality Counts QRS (submits an application). Title: An Introduction to the Environment Rating Scales (ERS)

Description: This training is for family child care and center based programs and provides an overview of the Environment Rating Scales (ERS). ERS are user-friendly assessment tools that measure the quality of the learning environment for infants through school-age. After completing this training, participants will be able to use the tool(s) for program self-assessment and improvement planning.

Title: An Introduction to the Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS)
Cost: $15
Length: 4 hours

Description: This training is for family child care practitioners and provides an overview of the Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS). FCCERS is a user-friendly assessment tool used to measure the quality of the learning environment. After completing this training, participants will be able to use the tool for program self-assessment and improvement planning.

Program Administration Scale (PAS)

The Getting Ready for the Program Administration Scale training is offered by the local CCR&R. Attendance at this training is required for a program administration staff member of a Licensed Child Care Center that applies (submits an application) for QRS Star Level 3 or Star Level 4.

Length: 4 hours

Description: This training is for center based program administrators and provides an overview of the Program Administration Scale (PAS). PAS measures the quality of leadership and management practices of center-based programs. After completing this training, participants will be able to use the tool for program self-assessment and improvement planning.

Assistance with the Program Administration Scale is available through a PAS Independent Consultant. Individuals listed have received extensive training and are available to provide technical assistance as an independent consultant to centers. Cost may apply for using a PAS consultant. You may apply for Program Improvement funds from your local local CCR&R Agency to cover this consultant cost.

Business Administration Scale (BAS)

The Getting Ready for the Business Administration Scale training is offered by the local Child Care Resource & Referral. Attendance at this training is required for a Licensed Family/Group Home Child Care Provider who applies (submits an application) for QRS Star Level 3 or Star Level 4.
